    <title>FYT Expands Youth Theatre!!</title>   <link>http://www.cftesting.co.uk/fyt/news.aspx?id=17</link>
   <description> The Youth Theatre have now doubled in size from 20 to 40 young people due to its popularity and securing funding from Find Your Talent North &amp; South Tyneside. They are working towards two performances to be shown at their Winter Show on 4 December in the Studio at the Customs House. One is a collaborative piece between the Youth Theatre and five young people from Custom Breaks, which will be based upon the groups&rsquo; thoughts and feelings about growing up and living in South Shields. The tutors will be Laura Baxendale and Paul Martin, of the Find Your Talent who is also a b-boy in Bad Taste Cru.
&nbsp;
The other performance will be a scripted piece written with the Youth Theatre and writer Laura Lindow, who wrote &lsquo;Heartbreak Soup&rsquo; which is currently at Northern Stage, and will be directed by Catherine Scott.
&nbsp;
Custom Breaks (the venue&rsquo;s break-dance group for 10-19 year olds) will also be performing a piece on the 4 December at the Winter show.
&nbsp;
&ldquo;I am really excited about this fantastic opportunity that the Youth Theatre will be working with Laura Lindow, and Bad Taste Cru towards two totally different devised pieces. The Youth Theatre have also been able to take part in some brilliant master-classes in comedy improvisation with &lsquo;The Suggestibles&rsquo; and Stage Combat from the Theatre Royal which they have all really enjoyed.&rdquo; Fiona Kelly, Cultural Development Officer

    <title>Steam Punk Project for Schools!!!</title>   <link>http://www.cftesting.co.uk/fyt/news.aspx?id=14</link>
   <description> After a busy summer we are delighted to announce one of our many new projects we are working on in the South Tyneside and North Tyneside Areas.
The theme is based around the science fiction genre of STEAM PUNK and the Great Exihibition at the Crystal Palace (1851)
We are working in partnership with Tyne and Wear Museums, and a team of specialist local artists to bring together this fantastic and creative project.
We are involving schools in both boroughs in our &nbsp;Find Your Talent cluster and we feel it is a project which will benefit&nbsp; pupils, teachers and elements of&nbsp;the curriculum school plan/status
The project involves 5 elements and all of these are on offer to your school, the 5 elements form your involvement in the programme and each school will have a specific project (theme) to engage in. All of the work the schools undertake will lead and be part of the main Great Exhibition at the Discovery Museum.
&bull; Visits (To Museums and Heritage sites in the North East)
&bull; Create (The design and make element of the project)
&bull; Artists (A residency with one of our Steam Punk Artists)
&bull; Exhibition (An opportunity to exhibit some of the work created)
&bull; View/Interact (A visit to the Great Hall to the main exhibit in Summer 2010)
&nbsp;
We recently had the opportunity to speak to Mr David Milliband MP about this project, and he thought it was a great idea and has shown his support.
This is a very exciting and unique project and keep your eyes on this site or email us for more info
thanks </description>

&quot;I've been hearing great things about the Customs House, so I've come along to see it for myself&quot; said Mr Burnham, &quot;I think it's incredibly important for children to get involved, it enables them to develop their creative and musical talents, and also their confidence and belief in themselves.&quot;
